Association of American Educators Foundation

  • What It Is: Classroom grants can be used for a variety of projects and materials, including but not limited to books, software, calculators, math manipulatives, art supplies, audio-visual equipment, and lab materials.

Ezra Jacks Keats Foundation

  • What It Is: Mini-Grant programs give teachers and librarians a unified, flexible way to meet Common Core goals—and offer students a fun experience, a sense of achievement and a source of pride.

From Failure to Promise

  • What It Is: Dr. C. Moorer and Associates, Inc. offers grants that support educators in helping their students succeed and go from “Failure to Promise.” 
  • Award: Up to $500

STEAM Education Grants

American Chemical Society

  • What It Is: The ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grants support ideas that enhance classroom learning, foster student development, and reveal the wonders of chemistry.
  • Award: $1,500

  • What It Is: The Gravely & Paige Grants provide funding to elementary and middle schools in the United States to promote STEM innovation in the classrooms with emphasis on academic programs
  • Award: Up to $1,000
  • Deadline: July 31, 2020


  • What It Is: FirstEnergy encourages original, inventive and creative classroom projects and teacher professional development in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
  • Award: Up to $1,000

The Connection

  • What It Is: Looking for a new way to make learning engaging? Eligible K-12 teachers may apply to win grant money to use toward the purchase of technology equipment for your students. 
  • Award: Up to $1,000
  • Deadline: August 3, 2020


  • What It Is: A clear connection to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) with an emphasis on Aerospace must be included in the grant proposal.
  • Award: Varies
  • Deadline: January 15, 2021


  • What It Is: AEP has a special interest in science, mathematics, technology, the study of energy and a sustainable environment, and energy efficiency.
  • Award: $100-$500
  • Deadline: February 28, 2021


Literacy Education Grants

Believe in Literacy

  • What It Is: Believe in Reading awards grants to existing and provably successful literacy programs.
  • Award: $1,000-$10,000
  • Deadline: Ongoing

Dollar General Literacy Foundation

  • What It Is: Schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations who help students that are below grade level or having trouble reading are eligible to apply.
  • Award: $4,000
  • Deadline: May 21, 2020

International Literacy Association

  • What It Is: The Constance McCullough International Research Grant is awarded annually to assist a member of the International Literacy Association in the investigation of reading-related problems and to encourage international professional development activities that are carried out in countries outside of the U.S. or Canada. 
  • Award: $2,000
  • Deadline: June 1, 2020

International Literacy Association

  • What It Is: The Diane Lapp & James Flood Professional Collaborator Award recognizes an ongoing professional collaboration between two or more people who regularly contribute to the professional knowledge base of literacy educators. 
  • Deadline: June 1, 2020

Regie Routman

  • What It Is: The International Literacy Association (ILA) Regie Routman Teacher Recognition Grant is an annual award that honors an outstanding K-8 classroom teacher dedicated to improving and enriching the teaching and learning of purposeful reading and writing across the curriculum.
  • Award: $2,500
  • Deadline: June 1, 2020


Arts Education Grants

Mockingbird Foundation

  • What It Is: The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc. offers competitive grants to schools and nonprofit organizations that effect improvements in music education for children.
  • Award: $100-$10,000
  • Deadline: August 1, 2020

P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education Grants

  • What It Is: For projects within schools serving all children that integrates the arts into educational programs. The purpose for this grant is to aid and support teachers who wish to establish or maintain an effective learning tool using the visual arts within the school day.
  • Award: Up to $1,000
  • Deadline: September 30, 2020

The Shubert Foundation

  • What It Is: The Shubert Foundation awards unrestricted grants for general operating support in the areas of dance and theater.
  • Award: Up to $1,000
  • Deadline: October 16, 2020

Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation

  • What It Is: The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation awards grants to organizations for whom a small amount of money can make a big difference. The Foundation will consider requests to support schools, museums, cultural, and performing arts programs. 
  • Award: $1,000-$20,000
  • Deadline: November 10, 2020

Classics for Kids

  • What It Is: Money toward the following instruments: violins, violas, cellos, double basses.

After School Programs, Clubs, and Field Trip Grants

Road Runners Club

  • What It Is: Since 2007, the RRCA and Kids Run the Nation have assisted running clubs, schools, and community nonprofits interested in implementing or currently hosting youth running programs.
  • Award: $500-$1,000
  • Deadline: August 1, 2020


  • What It Is: Education grants to local K-12 schools to support educational field trips.
  • Award: $700
  • Deadline: October 1, 2020


  • What It Is: Providing afterschool enrichment, tutoring or vocational training for low income individuals and families in the United States.
  • Award: $250-$2,500
  • Deadline: December 31, 2020


  • What It Is: For education grants, Verizon Foundation funding is intended to support, among other things, projects that promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (“STEM”), including, for example, summer or after school programs, teacher training, and research on improving learning in STEM areas through use of technology. New applications are by invitation only.

  • What It Is: Keurig Dr Pepper & KABOOM! have teamed up to offer $15,000 grants to be used toward the purchase of playground equipment.

Green Thumb

  • What It Is: GEF offers free programs that provide curricula and hands-on activities to inspire K-12 students and teachers to think holistically about global sustainability concerns and solutions.
  • Award: Up to $500

Whole Kids

  • What It Is: Through their Garden Grant program, schools and non-profit organizations turn outdoor spaces into powerful hands-on learning gardens that connect kids with food, spark their curiosity and support classroom curriculum.
  • Award: $3,000
  • Deadline: October 15, 2020

Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation & KidsGardening

  • What It Is: Awards provide funding for the development of new and expansion of existing youth garden programs and greenspaces serving 15 or more youth. Winners will be selected based on their commitment to the maintenance and sustainability of their garden program including plans for growth and future fiscal stability.
  • Award: Up to $1,000
  • Deadline: February 14, 2021
